The Laurenskerk is a special symbol of the connection between past, present and future. As one of the oldest buildings in the city, the church not only offers a glimpse into Rotterdam’s rich history, but is also a place of meeting and inspiration.

Organisation

The foundation’s goal is conservation of the Grote or Sint Laurenskerk and outbuildings as a monument and the exploitation of the building as social and cultural center serving the entire Rotterdam society. The foundation tries to achieve this goal by exploiting the church building in accordance with its nature and dignity. And by organizing social and cultural activities such as debates, lectures, meetings, exhibitions and (organ) concerts.

Renumeration policy

Board members receive no compensation for their work. Personnel (including the director) employed by the foundation receive remuneration in accordance with the collective labor agreement for PKN churches.

Goal
The foundation aims:
1. The maintenance of the Grote or Sint Laurenskerk and outbuildings in Rotterdam as a monument within the meaning of the Monuments Act 1988, pursuant to instructions from and in consultation with the owner of the building;
2. The exploitation of the building as a social and cultural center serving the entire Rotterdam society;
And furthermore, everything that is related to this in the broadest sense, belongs to it and/or can be conducive to it.

ANBI

The Laurenskerk Foundation and the Friends of the Laurenskerk Association are included in the register of recognized cultural ANBI institutions (Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling), so that donations, donations and any legacies in principle fall within the conditions for tax deduction set by the tax authorities.

The Ministry of Finance supports your donation. The Ministry of Finance wants to stimulate the giving behavior of private individuals and companies with a number of tax-favorable measures that are included in the new Giving Act (1 January 2012). This Donation Act applies to cultural institutions with ANBI status (Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling).

A donation to a cultural institution with ANBI status can therefore give you a tax advantage in income tax. For more information about this, we refer you to the Tax Authorities’ website.

Protocols

Flag protocol
The Laurenstoren is owned by the Municipality of Rotterdam. This means that she is also responsible for raising the flag.  The General Flag Instructions are only followed on the Laurenstoren, if weather conditions allow this. Above wind force 4, hanging a flag is too dangerous and damage to the tower and mast may occur.

The Laurenskerk is the only remaining late Gothic building from medieval Rotterdam.
