Organ lunchbreakconcert with Luuk Schuurman

Luuk Schuurman (2003) received his first organ lessons from Evan Bogerd, who also prepared him for his conservatory studies. He is currently studying at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where Jos van der Kooy is his main subject teacher for organ. As a secondary subject he received piano lessons from Wim Voogd and harmony lessons from Bert Mooiman. He studies church music at the Rotterdam Conservatory. He receives improvisation lessons from Hayo Boerema, Toon Hagen and at the improvisation academy in Altenberg (from David Cassan, among others). He received further lessons and masterclasses from Leo van Doeselaar, Stefan Engels, Wolfgang Zerer (all three at the International Summer Academy Haarlem), Ben van Oosten, Pieter Dirksen and Daan Manneke, among others. In the field of choral conducting, he followed the Kurt Thomas Course and received lessons from Jos Vermunt and Rob Vermeulen, among others. In addition to his musical activities, he studies theology at the Theological University in Apeldoorn.

Since 2022, Schuurman has been a cantor-organist at the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Zwolle. Schuurman has won several first prizes at various organ competitions (including the Quintus Organ Competition (2018) and the SGO Competition (2021)). In addition to his concert practice as an organist, Schuurman is active as an accompanist for various choirs and soloists and has a private teaching practice.

In het koor van de Laurenskerk bouwen we een pijporgel van de toekomst, dat digitaal te bespelen is: een ‘hyperorgel’. Zo wordt het orgel toegankelijker voor een brede groep musici.
