David Strijbis has won prizes at various competitions, including the first prize in the category of conservatory students at the Duyschot Organ Competition in the Westerkerk in Amsterdam.
David Strijbis (Amstelveen, 2001) received his first organ lessons at the age of nine from Gerben van de Put.He then followed the preparatory course at the Utrecht Conservatory where he was taught by Reitze Smits.Since 2022, David has been studying organ with Jos van der Kooy at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.He receives piano lessons from Wim Voogd. At Codarts Rotterdam, David is studying Church Music with Arie Hoek (hymnology and cantorate), Hanna Rijken (liturgy) and Hayo Boerema (improvisation/church organ playing). In addition to the regular teachers David is taught by, he regularly takes private lessons with various organists. In this way, he then immerses himself in the specialism of the musician in question. David also participated in various masterclasses.
David has received several prizes at competitions, including first prize at the Duyschot organ competition in Amsterdam (2024). As an assistant organist, he has been associated with the Westerkerk in Amsterdam since 2024, where he is the regular accompanist of the cantory.
