The 20th anniversary edition of the festival is a collective reflection on North Sea Round Town’s most iconic artistic collaborations.
North Sea Round Town opens its anniversary edition with a special artistic encounter between sound and imagination. In honour of twenty editions of creative music, the festival presents a collective reinterpretation of its most iconic artistic concerts. An evening that brings together six signature artists, who in recent years have contributed to some of the festival’s most talked-about productions: Sun-Mi Hong, Sanem Kalfa, George Dumitriu, Alessandro Fongaro, Joachim Badenhorst, Kit Downes.
To honour the artists and projects that have emerged within the festival over the years, we are creating a special evening in which previous work is revisited, deconstructed and reinvented in a new, collaborative artistic form. This evening is both a mirror and a vision – a tribute to what has been, and a daring exploration of what is yet to come. It marks the beginning of a new chapter for North Sea Round Town, which originated in 2006.
In the impressive Laurenskerk – the setting for many premieres in recent years – an extensive night programme unfolds in which past, present and future come together in a shared artistic experience. This concert transcends the boundaries of a traditional performance. You can sit, walk, listen attentively or let your mind wander. It is a living experience. The Laurenskerk carries every sound, every silence. An invitation to slow down, tune in, and be part of the next chapter in the festival’s story.

In het koor van de Laurenskerk bouwen we een pijporgel van de toekomst, dat digitaal te bespelen is: een ‘hyperorgel’. Zo wordt het orgel toegankelijker voor een brede groep musici.
