There was a mysterious client who wanted to remain anonymous. And Mozart died while he was still busy with this funeral mass music.
Mozart was 35 years old when he was composing his Requiem. The story of his life appeals to the imagination and the mystery always hangs around his end of life. In films, many try to get closer to the soul of the genius. But we feel his presence most strongly in his music. In the hands and voices of young musicians, his spirit comes even closer.
Under the direction of Richard Egarr, the Codarts Choir and Symphony Orchestra will perform W. A. Mozart’s great masterpiece, his Requiem in D minor. After almost 7 years of the last collaboration with Laurenscantorij and the Codarts String Orchestra, Codarts, Laurens Vocaal and the Vocal Department of Codarts join forces to perform one of the best-known and largest symphonic-coral works ever written at a unique location such as the Laurenskerk Rotterdam, a pearl in the cultural, historical and social landscape of the city.
Young people up to 29 years old, students and CJP holders can sprint on the evening itself (not in presale) on presentation of age on ID. Sprint tickets are € 10 and can be paid at the box office at the entrance (cash or pin).
In het koor van de Laurenskerk bouwen we een pijporgel van de toekomst, dat digitaal te bespelen is: een ‘hyperorgel’. Zo wordt het orgel toegankelijker voor een brede groep musici.
