From clubs to music venues and festivals, there isn’t a stage in the Netherlands that MAIN hasn’t set on fire.
MAIN started as a rapper with the indie-hip-hop label Vanleder1, was the frontman of Funky Organizers on major stages and later made a name for himself with MCJR & Th’Acquisition. As host of the Higher Life Jam Sessions, he performed at iconic festivals such as North Sea Jazz, Museum Night and SuperSonic Jazz. He has also been a resident on influential platforms such as Chips, Yardbird and Vunzige Deuntjes and has presented at ESNS, North Sea Jazz, Rolling Loud and Lowlands.
Although he was in the spotlight non-stop for years, he has not released any new music in recent years and now it is clear why. Under the radar, he gathered a star cast of musicians and created new material in which he effortlessly brings together nostalgia and innovation.
With his LEEF:TIJD EP & LP, MAIN returns to his first love: music. In collaboration with De Nieuwe Lichting and the Laurenskerk, he will present an exclusive dinner show and concert on March 27 in honor of the release of his long-awaited LEEF:TIJD EP.
A culinary and musical journey
A fine dining menu has been put together for this special evening, with three courses, each representing a key moment in MAIN’s life. The dishes are carefully curated and created by MAIN itself. During the dinner, the audience is taken on a personal and artistic journey. Each course is introduced with a performance and film fragment, in which MAIN further explores the meaning of these moments.
There are a limited number of tickets available for the intimate dinner show. These tickets include access to the concert that takes place afterwards. Single tickets are also available for the concert. During the concert his new EP will be performed.
Laurenskerk Invites
This concert is part of the series Laurenskerk Invites. In this series we ask contemporary Rotterdam artists or ensembles to come and get acquainted with the organ in the Laurenskerk. This fourth edition is made in collaboration with De Nieuwe Lichting.
MAIN (Jermaine Berkhoudt) will go on a musical journey of discovery with organist Matthijs van der Wilt.

Matthijs van der Wilt has a broad musical interest, from classical music as well as light and experimental music. He studied organ with Bas de Vroome at the Codarts Conservatory of Rotterdam. He studied improvisation and church organ playing with Hayo Boerema and Aart Bergwerff, electronic composition with René Uijlenhoet. Matthijs is currently an organist at the Paradijskerk in Rotterdam and is studying for a master’s degree in ‘Screen Scoring’ with Paul M. van Brugge at Codarts. In addition to his work as an organist, he writes compositions in various genres, works on radio plays and composes music for films.
In het koor van de Laurenskerk bouwen we een pijporgel van de toekomst, dat digitaal te bespelen is: een ‘hyperorgel’. Zo wordt het orgel toegankelijker voor een brede groep musici.
